The type of wood used in this unique wooded keepsake box is Patagonian Rosewood with Figured Maple for the drawer pulls. The drawers are lined with suede material. There are no stains or dyes, rather only a protective finish, to enhance the natural wood color.
Patagonian Rosewood: (Curupay) The heartwood color is initially pale brown, but it darkens upon exposure to reddish-brown with darker colored, almost black streaks which give the wood a very attractive appearance. The tree is reported to reach a height of about 80 feet,

The wavy or curly grains produce a "fiddle-back" figure and sometimes a "black mottled" figure. The tree is Native To Figured Maple is from the Hard Maple and the Soft Maple trees. Our figured maple is a mix of these species. The trees grow throughout the United States east of the Rocky Mountains, the New England, and Great Lakes regions.
