The type of wood used in this Jewelry Box is African Teak with Figured Maple for the drawer pulls. The drawers are lined with suede material. There are no stains or dyes, rather only a protective finish, to enhance the natural wood color.
African Teak is similar in appearance to other teaks and has brown, green or yellow-brown bark and straight grain. This particular teak has an incredible wood grain which is highly figured. The tree is native to Zimbabwe, and other countries in southern Africa.
Figured Maple ~ Figured Maple is a domestic hardwood. The sapwood is mostly a creamy white color, but some darker heartwood can be found. The wavy or curly grains produce a "fiddle-back" figure and sometimes a "black mottled" figure. The tree is Native To Figured Maple is from the Hard Maple and the Soft Maple trees. Our figured maple is a mix of these species. The trees grow throughout the United States east of the Rocky Mountains, the New England, and Great Lakes regions.
