Jewelry Boxes for Women ~ johntraegerstudio.com
Jewelry boxes for women and girls are a traditional gift, the kind of gift she'll use and treasure for years, if not a lifetime.
The name of this Jewelry Box is "Pod 2."
The box dimensions are 4.5" high, 6.5" wide, and 6" deep.
The type of wood used in this Keepsake Box is Figured Maple with African Ebony for the drawer pulls. The drawers are lined with suede material. There are no stains or dyes, rather only a protective finish to enhance the natural wood color.
Figured Maple ~ Figured Maple is a domestic hardwood. The sapwood is predominantly a creamy white color, but some darker heartwood can be found. The wavy or curly grains produce a "fiddle-back" figure and sometimes a "black mottled" figure. Figured Maple is from the Hard Maple and the Soft Maple trees. Our figured maple is a mix of these species. The trees grow throughout the United States east of the Rocky Mountains, the New England, and the Great Lakes regions.
Gabon Ebony ~ from equatorial Africa, African Ebony is usually found in wet lowlands near rivers and swamps. Devoid of color, Gabon Ebony has ink black with lighter streaks. Only a small percentage of Ebony (three to five percent) produce the highest quality jet black Ebony. Ebony is complex and costly to grow, making it a rare species to obtain. Ebony is a treasured hardwood used by the Egyptian Pharaohs over 3,000 years ago.
