This Jewelry Box has a Secret Drawer!
The type of wood used in this piece is Caribbean Walnut with Figured Maple for the drawer pulls. The drawers are lined with suede material. There are no stains or dyes, but rather only a protective finish to enhance the natural wood color.
Caribbean Walnut ~ Tzalam Caribbean Walnut, also called Tzalam, has a heartwood of light to medium brown color, occasionally with a purple or red hue, and dark brown streaks are common. Sapwood is pale grey-white and clearly distinguishable from heartwood. Its texture is open and uniform, luster is medium, and grain is straight. Caribbean Walnut is commonly found in Central America and México.
Figured Maple ~ Figured Maple is a domestic hardwood. The sapwood is a primarily white creamy color, but some darker heartwood can be found. The wavy or curly grains produce a "fiddle-back" figure and sometimes a "black mottled" figure. Our figured maple is a mix of these species. The trees grow throughout the United States east of the Rocky Mountains, New England, and the Great Lakes regions.
